Scripture: Mark 10:17-30, Hebrews 4:7-12

Songs:

What should be the most important thing in our life, above all else?

Will your answer be to live in harmony with God’s will, to invest your life in doing God’s will?

Why should we invest our life in God’s will?

“Throughout the Gospels, Jesus is telling us that God has entrusted each one of us with a life – and that He will enhance that life, enrich that life, fulfill that life if only we are willing to risk it on His plans and purposes.”

When we come to church, we come to acknowledge before one another, and before Almighty God, that whatever it is we’ve done, in Jesus’ name, we must do MORE.

Invest your life, all of it – even your money! Will you take that RISK?

Please Tell the Truth!

The ninth commandment deals with being truthful. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Being truthful in today’s culture is fast becoming a lost art. There is an expectation that our leaders will be liars, sales people will lie to us and honesty just does not seem to come easy for many people. Lying is almost a way of life for many people. We lie at a drop of a hat.

We will examine what this commandment prohibits and how the truth can set one free!

Schemes, Scams, & Swindles” (Eighth commandment – Thou Shall Not Steal)

Stealing begins in our attitude. It is then expressed toward our fellow human beings, and even toward God. We should live close to God so that we can remain honest when we are tempted to be dishonest. The proper attitude is ‘What I have is God’s, let’s share it.’ All you own is from God.  Everything you are and have is His.”

“EARN all you can
SAVE all you can
GIVE all you can.” (John Wesley)

John Nelson

“Christians gather for worship in mud huts and Gothic cathedrals, in prisons and nursing homes, in storefront buildings and village squares, in sprawling megchurches and old country chapels. In these diverse contexts the style of worship varies greatly from formal sermons to sponstaneous outpourings, from singing music accompanied by rock bands, pipe organs, drum ensembles, rusty old pianos, and some with no accompaniment at all. Some dress in their formal Sunday best, others in casual beach clothes. Yet for all the diversity of cultural expressions and worship styles, there remain several constant norms for Christian worship that transcend cultures and keep us faithful to the gospel of Christ.”(Lutheran “The Worship Sourcebook)

Worship styles come and go, but the Gospel message remains constant. If we consider worship to be an activity of the gathering of God’s people, then it begs us to ask the questions, What is true worship and why do we need to worship? Worship reflects “worthship”!
